In a dazzling display of athleticism and precision, the Bonney Lake Panthers girls' basketball team hosted the Enumclaw Hornets in a non-conference showdown that set the stage for a season promising excitement and excellence. The theme of the night was "lights out," and the fans, draped in black, were ready to witness their Panthers shine on the court once again. After a remarkable journey to the state tournament last year, anticipation was palpable as the Panthers geared up for their home opener.

Last season, the Panthers secured a commendable second-place finish in the 3A Pierce County League (PCL), while the Hornets held their ground as the second-best in the 2A South Puget Sound League (SPSL). The clash of these formidable contenders promised an exhilarating spectacle, and the Panthers did not disappoint.

Right from the tip-off, the Panthers set the court ablaze with a scorching combination of tenacious defense and a barrage of successful shots. The opening quarter saw the Panthers seize control with a commanding 13-5 lead, leaving the Hornets struggling to find an answer to their relentless onslaught.

The second quarter unfolded as a continuation of the Panthers' dominance, extending their lead to a formidable 25-11. The Hornets, though valiant, found themselves caught in the Panthers' defensive web, unable to counter the relentless offensive drive of the home team.

As the game progressed into the third quarter, the Panthers showed no signs of letting up. With a scoreline of 40-23, they demonstrated their prowess and versatility on both ends of the court. The Panthers' commitment to excellence was evident in every pass, every steal, and every basket.

When the final buzzer resonated through the arena, it confirmed what the fans had witnessed – a masterful performance by the Bonney Lake Panthers, securing a resounding 62-29 victory. The team's leader on the court was none other than the senior sensation, Jazmyn Shipp, who lit up the scoreboard with an impressive 28 points. Ava Rice contributed a solid 15 points, while Evin Elias showcased her sharpshooting skills, leading the team in three-pointers and adding 8 points to the total.

The box score told a tale of teamwork and precision, with Azy Jackson orchestrating the offense with 10 assists. Jazmyn Shipp's dominance extended to the boards, leading the team with 13 rebounds, while Ava Rice and Azy Jackson contributed 8 rebounds each.

The beauty of the game extended beyond the scoreboard; it was a clean and spirited competition, with no players finding themselves in foul trouble. It was a testament to the skill and discipline instilled in both squads.

Looking ahead, the Panthers are set to embark on conference matches, with their next game scheduled against the Lakes Lancers at home on December 8th at 7:30 pm. As the Bonney Lake faithful eagerly await the conference battles, the home opener has undoubtedly set the tone for a season that promises to be nothing short of extraordinary.
