Meet Jack Williamson, a senior at Bonney Lake High School, whose skill lies in the art of defense on the lacrosse field. As he prepares to embark on the next chapter of his lacrosse journey, committing to the College of Idaho, Williamson reflects on his journey, aspirations, and the impact he hopes to make on the field and beyond.
Committed to Excellence: Choosing the College of Idaho
When asked about his college commitment, Williamson exudes a sense of purpose and community. "I am currently committed to play lacrosse at the College of Idaho in Caldwell, Idaho," he shares. For Williamson, proximity to home and a strong lacrosse program were key factors in his decision-making process. With an eye on environmental sciences and a passion for wildlife safety, he aims to leverage his college experience to obtain wilderness EMT certifications—a stepping stone towards his ultimate goal of joining the fire service as a firefighter/paramedic, following in his father's footsteps.
A Lacrosse Journey Unfolds: From Club Ball to Collegiate Commitment
Williamson' journey into lacrosse began early, shaped by family ties and a love for the game. "I got into it through my Uncle Kris Johnson who played at PLU and my cousin Beau Fitzke who played at Oregon State," he recalls. Officially starting club ball with the Lake Tapps Titans in the third grade, Williamson' dedication to the sport blossomed. Despite not always being the fastest on the field, his affinity for the long-pole led him to embrace his role on defense—a position that has become synonymous with his identity as a player.
Balancing Act: Athlete, Scholar, and Community Contributor
Beyond lacrosse, Williamson is a multi-faceted individual. A varsity letter earner in both lacrosse and swimming, his commitment to athletic excellence is matched by his academic pursuits, boasting a commendable 3.6 GPA. On weekends, he assumes the role of referee for girls' youth lacrosse—a testament to his dedication to the sport and its growth at the grassroots level. Yet, Williamson' talents extend beyond the field; he is an active member of the BLHS choir, showcasing his artistic prowess in performances both locally and on a national stage, as evidenced by his recent spring break trip to New York City.
A Vision for Success: Hopes for the Lacrosse Season Ahead
As Williamson looks ahead to his final season at Bonney Lake High School, his aspirations are clear. "My hopes for this year's lacrosse season is that we make a deep run in the playoffs," he shares. Determined to overcome past setbacks, Williamson is poised to lead his team to new heights, driven by a desire to leave a lasting impact on the program and create a legacy of success.
Beyond the Field: Adventures on the River
Amidst the rigors of competition and academic pursuits, Williamson finds solace in the serenity of the river. A devoted enthusiast of rafting, he treasures the annual tradition of floating down the Rogue River in Oregon with his extended family—a cherished time of bonding and relaxation amidst the rush of everyday life.
As Jack Williamson prepares to embark on the next phase of his lacrosse journey, his legacy at Bonney Lake High School serves as a testament to his relentless dedication, resilience, and passion for the sport. With his sights set on the College of Idaho and a future in environmental sciences, Williamson is poised to make waves both on and off the field, leaving a permanent mark on the lacrosse community and beyond.
