In the bustling town of Bonney Lake, a rising star has emerged on the bowling lanes, and her name is Jayden Thayer. At just 14 years old, this freshman at Bonney Lake High School has already made waves as a pivotal player on the Bonney Lake Panthers girls bowling team, recently earning the prestigious title of WIAA Player of the Week.
I had the pleasure of speaking with Jayden for an exclusive interview, gaining insights into her journey, passion for the sport, and the impressive achievements that have marked her burgeoning career in the world of bowling.
A Passion That Strikes Early
Jayden's connection with bowling dates back to her childhood. "I started bowling when I was 7 years old," she shared. "My parents introduced me to the sport, and it became a family affair. My sisters joined in, and from there, I just kind of fell in love with bowling."
Freshman on the Rise
As a freshman at Bonney Lake High School, Jayden brings both skill and determination to the bowling alley. Her current bowling average of 195 reflects the hard work and dedication she has poured into perfecting her game. "Bowling is not just a sport for me; it's a passion," she emphasized.
Triumphs Beyond the High School Team
Before joining the Bonney Lake Panthers, Jayden had already tasted success in numerous bowling competitions. "I have won many bowling competitions before being a part of the high school team," she revealed. This experience and expertise have undoubtedly contributed to her outstanding performances on the lanes.
Pioneering Spirit at Bonney Lake
In a significant move for the school, this academic year marks the debut of bowling as an official sport at Bonney Lake. Jayden proudly shared, "This is Bonney Lake's first year of bowling." Despite the initial stages of the program, the girls on the team are already growing closer, both as athletes and friends. "As the team grows, we are all bonding, and I help them out as much as I can to support their progress," Jayden added.
Bonds Beyond Bowling
When asked about her favorite moment from the year, Jayden didn't hesitate. "The best moment for the bowling team is how much we have grown closer together as a team," she expressed. "Not only as a team, but we've also become closer friends outside of bowling."
A Sole Dedication to Bowling
Unlike many multi-sport athletes, Jayden's focus is unwaveringly on bowling. "I have not played any other sport besides bowling," she admitted. "Ever since I started bowling, I have become attached to it, and now I can't find any other sport I like to play."
Jayden Thayer's story is one of early dedication, individual triumphs, and the camaraderie that comes with being part of a groundbreaking high school team. As Bonney Lake's bowling program takes its inaugural steps, Jayden's presence on the team serves as an inspiration to her teammates and a testament to the flourishing talent within the world of high school bowling. Keep an eye on this rising star as she continues to make strikes and spares on her journey to the top.
