Panthers Shine on Senior Night: Bonney Lake's 'Pink Out' Triumph Over Silas Rams

In a chilly Autumn evening under the bright lights, the Bonney Lake Panthers hosted the Silas Rams in a Thursday night football showdown that had everyone buzzing. This was the highly anticipated Football game of the week on WIAA WA Sports, and it was made all the more special by being Senior night for the Panthers. The air was thick with excitement as fans gathered, with a sea of pink adorning the stadium to show unwavering support for breast cancer awareness.


The Bonney Lake Panthers entered this clash as the team in control, occupying the third spot in the league standings with a 3-2 record. On the other side, the Silas Rams were languishing in last place, searching for their first league victory with an 0-5 record. The stage was set for an exciting night of high school football, as fans huddled together to fend off the autumn chill, with temperatures dipping into the 30s by the end of the game.


The opening whistle saw the Panthers burst onto the field, fueled by the emotions of Senior Night and the electric atmosphere. Their initial drive was a statement of intent, as senior quarterback Brayden Palmer masterfully connected with his reliable target, senior Marcus Lloyd, in the corner of the end zone for a 5-yard touchdown. The Panthers wasted no time capitalizing on this momentum, converting a 2-point conversion to snatch an early 8-0 lead.


Not to be outdone, the Rams managed to make their way down the field on their next possession, but they were stifled by the Panther's formidable defense, settling for a field goal. With the scoreboard reading 8-3, the Rams kept their hopes alive.


The first quarter held its fair share of drama, as the Rams' defense came up with a crucial interception, only to see their offensive efforts go to waste. The Panther's defense proved to be a formidable force throughout the night, as they consistently prevented any Rams attempts

to make headway.

As the game progressed into the second quarter, the Panthers showed no signs of slowing down. With 6:54 seconds left to play in the first half, Palmer handed the ball off to senior Kyler Gillette, who bulldozed his way through the Rams' defense for a powerful 12-yard touchdown run. The scoreboard now read 14-3 in favor of the Panthers.


The teams locked horns in a defensive battle, and as the seconds ticked away in the second quarter, the Panthers found themselves within field goal range. With just 2 seconds left on the clock, senior kicker Tyler Vance split the uprights with a 32-yard field goal, extending the Panther's lead to 17-3 at halftime.


The third quarter provided more of the same as the Panthers continued to assert their dominance. They methodically moved the ball down the field, and with 6:55 seconds remaining in the quarter, Brayden Palmer added to his tally with a nimble 7-yard rushing touchdown as he scrambled through multiple defenders and into the end zone. The Panthers' lead now appeared insurmountable at 24-3.


The Panther's relentless defense maintained its iron grip on the game, snuffing out any flicker of hope for the Rams. Following a punt, the Panthers found themselves in prime scoring position once again. With the seconds winding down in the third quarter, Marcus Lloyd found the end zone for the second time in the form of a 5-yard touchdown run, giving the Panthers an imposing 31-3 advantage.


In the final quarter, the Rams managed to put some points on the board with just 2 minutes left in the game, scoring their first touchdown of the night. However, it was a mere consolation in the face of the dominant Panthers, who ultimately sealed the deal with a resounding 31-10 victory.


For the Panthers, this win not only solidified their standing in the league but also provided a memorable Senior night for the ages. As the temperatures dropped into the 30s and the chilly night came to a close, the Panthers left their fans with a performance to savor, and their defense left a lasting impression on the Silas Rams.
